The Ontario Handspinning Seminar is Ontario's annual three day gathering for spinners. Founded in 1964, the Seminar provides a location for spinners of all levels of experience to meet, take workshops, share their work, learn new techniques, shop and be inspired by each other. The Seminar moves around the Province to allow easy access for all. Each year the organizing committee selects a theme for the event and all workshops and activities focus on this main idea. Most importantly, the Ontario Handspinning Seminar brings together our community of spinners for a weekend of sharing, creativity and collaboration.

Greetings and best wishes from the Ontario Handspinning Seminar! The Organizing Committee and Board of Directors hope that you are in good health and good spirits. We have all been through an unimaginable year and it looks like we need to hold on for a while yet. Stashes are being raided, both our own and those of our friends...
As the Organizing Committee looked to the future, we could not in good conscience plan to bring us all together physically in June 2021. While there is hope on the horizon that looks promising, the Committee has committed to creating a virtual Seminar that can be experienced from the safety of our own homes. As in years past, there will be time and space to socialize, share, learn with and from each other while enjoying fibre and spinning!
In June 2021, the Ontario Handspinning Seminar explores Sustainable Fibres. Following the tradition of the Seminar, we are creating an event that celebrates and shares the knowledge and joy we have of handspinning! Taking the Seminar to a virtual format is new ground for us all and in planning our event this year, we have kept in mind the diversity of our participants.

- We know that some of you rarely work on computers and with you in mind, we are creating a series of how-to videos and tips that will guide you through the event. These various supports include videos that outline how to register for the event to taking photographs of your work to sending you daily links of the event during the Seminar weekend among others.
- At the other end of the spectrum of our participants are those who spend their entire workday in front of their computer who are very comfortable with video meetings but may be feeling 'screen fatigue' as many workplaces moved their employees to working from home using digital environments over the last year.
- We know that you may not have the desire to spend your entire Seminar weekend tied to your screen as well. To respond to this need, the content of the 2021 Seminar will remain available to all registrants until the end of August. This means that ALL registrants will have access to ALL of the workshops, features, keynote speeches and more from the Seminar weekend until August 31st!
