Rebecca Lamperd - Tips and tricks to spin what you want, using your stash, some tools and charts and a sense of humour. • A Sampling of Ontario Fibres

Julia Lee - Participants will receive a package containing about 6 different protein fibres, all grown and prepared in Ontario by our local community. • Spinning Thread

Sarah Wroot - In this workshop we will look at both modern and historic textiles to see different threads used for different purposes. We will talk about how what you want the thread to do – even in some cases the type of fabric you wish to stitch – should influence your decisions about structure and fibre choice. We’ll discuss the number of plies, the type and quality of fibre to use, tools to help you spin and ply consistently, and then put this information to use.

  • Supported Spindling

Rachel Smith - This 2-hour workshop will introduce participants to the world of supported spindling, offering a description of the types out there and their role in our spindle fleets. This will be a bit of a Fashion Show and I invite you to share yours too! We will explore getting started on a supported spindle, field questions, discuss temporary cops, and finish with some tips on plying. The group will benefit from having a support spindle and wool fibre in their hands during the session.

  • Understanding Your Wheel

Elana Goodfellow - Understanding how your wheel operates and what it excels at is directly related to the success and the pleasure of a spinner. Many spinners abandon spinning particular yarns on their wheel or e-spinner due to frustration with operating their wheel or e-spinner. I would like to present a workshop on the drive systems and tensioning systems of different wheels and e-spinners and discuss what each excels at.
