Ontario Handspinning Seminar

Events and Activities

Baggie Challenge

The $50 award recognizes an item created from fibre received at the previous Seminar, following guidelines set out in the Challenge. Winners are chosen by ballots cast by Seminar attendees. If you attended last year, bring your Baggie Challenge items!

Choose Your Own Adventure

In 2025 we offered several Baggie Challenge packages so that you could choose your own adventure between a protein package, a cellulose package, a colour package, or a mixed package.

These packages form the core of an item to be submitted for the Challenge, but feel free to add fibre as needed.

2026 Seminar attendees will cast ballots to choose the winner of a $50 award.

If you attended the 2025 Seminar, bring your Baggie Challenge item!

Fashion Show

This event is a wonderful way to have your hand-spinning seen by your peers and to gain inspiration from others. Models will be needed, so be sure to sign up to volunteer when you register.

Fleece Auction

At this year’s Seminar we will again be offering a Fleece Silent Auction. Come support your local fibre producers!

Friday & Saturday Night Spin-Ins

Once again we’ll be providing “Try Me!” tags for those who are willing to let others try their wheel at our Spin-In. Just ask for a tag at registration.

We’re putting together a Spinner’s Playlist for our Spin-Ins. The registration form will have a place for you to tell us your favourite tunes that we’ll spin while you spin.

Stash and Book Exchange Charity Sale

Do you have unwanted spinning-related items? Bring them to the Seminar to be rehomed (we’ll charge a Loonie to drop off the items). Those who donated to the sale will have first crack at purchasing from the Exchange. It will cost a Loonie to pick up an item. Funds donated to Food4Kids Peterborough. Sale times TBA.

Sunday Spin-O-Thon

Back by popular demand: The 2026 Spinning Seminar Spin-O-Thon. Please join us and bring along your wheel or spindle and 100 grams or more of your favourite fibre. Participants will spin for approximately 5 minutes and then pass along fibre to one neighbour while receiving fibre from their other neighbour to continue spinning, repeat. Lots of laughter, conversation and hijinks will ensue! We will look forward to seeing your finished skein next year!

Swag!

We don’t know how deep this cute little sheep will be able to dive when he’s so comfy in his flotation ring! T-shirt for sale by pre-order. Details on the registration form.

Tools and Equipment Consignment Sale

What better place to sell tools that aren’t earning their space in your workroom? Download the consignment form from the website and bring the filled-out form with you. Complete guidelines will be displayed at the registration desk. More Details HERE
